Golden Skin-On Chicken Salt Chips
Get ready to take your chip game to the next level! With crispy skin-on chips and the classic taste of Chooki’s Original Chicken Salt, this recipe is your go-to for that perfect golden crunch.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg potatoes (skin-on, washed and cut into thick chips)
- 2 cups rice bran oil (for frying)
- 2 tablespoons Chooki’s Original Chicken Salt
- 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Prepare the Chips:
- Wash the potatoes thoroughly, leaving the skin on for extra texture and flavour. Cut them into thick chips.
- Soak the cut chips in a bowl of cold water for 20 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.
Heat the Oil:
- In a large, deep frying pan, heat the rice bran oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F). You can test by dropping in a small piece of potato—if it sizzles immediately, you’re good to go.
Fry the Chips:
- Fry the chips in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Cook each batch for 4-5 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked chips to a paper towel-lined tray to drain excess oil.
Season the Chips:
- While the chips are still hot, sprinkle them generously with Chooki’s Original Chicken Salt and a pinch of cracked black pepper. Toss gently to coat evenly.
